GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB:
Reporting to the Director of MGO-RGV, the Major Gifts Officer is responsible for focusing on outreach to donors and prospects for the purpose of securing and stewarding leadership gifts to the Hospital in the RGV. The program raises monies for endowment, capital, and annual support for all areas and funding priorities of the Hospital.

- Cultivate and grow relationships with major gift donors;
- Demonstrate business practices and personal actions that encompasses a solid work ethic, and adhere to corporate compliance and integrity guidelines;
- Identify, build, cultivate, and solicit donors.
- Maintain a portfolio of 80-100 qualified prospective donors with an emphasis on gifts of $100,000 or greater.
- Engage volunteers and other development staff in major giving strategies;
- Coordinates with the Prospect Research Specialist to identify major giving suspects;
- Develop long-term fundraising opportunities that support the strategic plan.
- Implement best practices and performance management in the major giving programs and activities;
- Cooperate with development staff to develop, implement, and lead a robust series of engagement opportunities that promote and educate Hospital constituencies on philanthropy;
- Collaborate with the Office of Communications in developing consistent materials, mailings, emails, etc. for the program;
- Support Development Services in its efforts to maintain the integrity of the database system, and provide appropriate reports, records, and other data as requested;
- Exercise high level of integrity;
- Facilitate excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to address, engage and motivate both large audiences and small groups;
- Administrate significant organizational skills and manage multiple projects effectively.

- Strong initiative and the ability to work collaboratively in a complex environment;
- Extraordinary attention to detail and ability to manage multiple competing priorities with minimal supervision is required;
- Occasional travel and some availability during evenings and weekends is required.

Requirements
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; Master’s degree preferred;
- A minimum of five years of experience as a fundraiser;
- A documented track record of securing multiple gifts and pledges of five-, six-, and seven-figure commitments.
