Description

Job Purpose: The Relationship Manager serves as the Foundation’s Major Gifts Officer and is responsible for cultivating and enhancing key relationships for the purpose of renewing and/or increasing philanthropic support, including relationships with current and potential donors, regional businesses, service clubs, and foundations, focusing on gifts $10,000 and larger. Works closely with the Foundation Director, Foundation Staff, and Board of Directors to achieve annual fundraising goals.

Job Description: 

  • Collaborates with the Foundation team in fundraising endeavors that support the strategic plan and mission of the organization.
  • Responsible for the identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of major donors and prospects to achieve annual and/or campaign goals, including managing a personal portfolio of 50+ donors to ensure timely steps are taken to reach fundraising goals. Engages hospital management staff, physicians and volunteer leaders in the major gift process. Works with Foundation Director to strategize and leverage cSuite and Board member relations with donors.
  • Develops individual donor prospect strategies and provides coaching to volunteers and staff who are engaged in the cultivation and solicitation process.
  • Responsible for developing, implementing and overseeing new Foundation programs including Planned Giving, Grateful Patient and Clinician Engagement, including creating trackable workflows.
  • Works with specialist(s) in estate and planned giving to support donor needs and promote the growth of bequests and legacy gifts.
  • Responsible for cultivating, enhancing and soliciting sponsorships for all fundraising events.
  • Lead the effort to research, write and complete grant applications and prepare required grant documentation.
  • Represents the Foundation in the community at key functions in coordination with the Foundation Director.
  • Assists with Foundation events including the Gala of Hope, Golf Classic, donor recognition events and other community events.
  • Collaborates with the Foundation team on administrative timelines and budgets for each campaign, appeal, program, and event; contributes content for donor communications. Provides timely, accurate reports on progress with prospects, including updating information into donor records system relative to area(s) of focus.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of donor and patient information and utilize considerable judgment and discretion.
  • Provides metrics and fundraising reports; researches methods/strategies to increase the effectiveness of fundraising endeavors; stays up-to-date on industry standards, strategies and best practices.
  • Have extensive knowledge of Foundation policies, procedures, internal controls and agreements.
  • Attend and participate in applicable committee and planning meetings.
  • Assist with the creation and implementation of a development and strategic plan that incorporates a range of fundraising methods.
  • Attend trainings and participate in career development seminars to stay current on trends, best practices to implement as appropriate.
  • Assists with various special projects as requested by the Director.

Job Skills

  • Understands how emotional intelligence influences written and verbal communication.
  • Ability to initiate and build long-term relationships with prospective individual donor partners.
  • Must be a detail-oriented, self-starter with a demonstrated ability to work independently and manage multiple projects and priorities to meet timelines, deadlines and goals.
  • Possesses the skills to work with and motivate team members including staff, board members and volunteers; must have demonstrated ability to interact positively with donors, administration, directors, managers, supervisors, peers, co-workers, subordinates, patients and visitors.
  • Displays a positive attitude, show concern for people and community, and demonstrates active listening skills.
  • Must meet regular attendance standard and must stay at or below average sick leave utilization levels.


Requirements

  • Four year Bachelor’s degree in Business, Community Relations or non-profit leadership preferred.
  • Minimum of three to five (3-5) years of experience in healthcare fundraising or minimum of five (5) years of experience in a relevant field such as community relations, business development or counseling.
  • Basic knowledge of nonprofit organizational structure and best practices.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher).
  • Knowledgeable in Blackbaud’s Raisers Edge preferred.
  • Will be expected to attend Board meetings, committee meetings and events that occur outside of regular work schedule.
  • Valid DOL driver’s license.
